Sorry about the last posting, I should have left well enough alone.

Kind regards,

Denys (I need more sleep, the baby cried all night!). . .

Steve, I apologize. It was arrogant of me to say I could find no fault in
your post. It was brought on by my exuberance at seeing a posting so
succinct, direct and factual about the subject.

Now, being a Monty Python fan for almost 30 years, (I used to watch it on
Wednesday nights on CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Chap)), and being able to
imitate a French accent (duh), "I empty my nose in your general direction,
you Mac zealot!"

Kind regards,

Denys. . .

<<I have read Steve's post about 4-5 times. I can find no fault in it.>>

Thanks, I think; I wasn't aware that technical postings to hp3000-l
regarding Windows required a "Beauchemin stamp of approval", but I
appreciate the thought ;-).

<<He sliced and diced the boot up sequence from the time the disk drives
are invoked. There is some activity that takes place before the disks
are searched, but that makes no difference here . Steve has presented a
succinct, precise analysis of the boot process of a PC. He has also
completely debunked the notion that Windows 95 runs over DOS, in a
decisive manner.>>

That's how I see it , though I suspect that Schulman would disagree.

<<....
I wish to state here and now, that the intent of my mega-post of this
past weekend, was not meant as an in-your-face statement to the Mac
contingent, but rather, as a we-don't-care-what-you-think statement,
followed by various observations.>>

We (PC users, that is) should also note that most of us recognize that
the converse is also true; Mac users don't particularly care what we
think either. The bulk of both sides is comprised of reasonable people
who made deliberate, more-or-less informed choices of their platform
based on criteria that are important to them. There is a small,
overly-vociferous, excessively aggressive, and downright obnoxious
contingent on each side that causes most of the problems. I refer members
of both rabble-rouser components to the address by the French soldier on
the top of the castle wall in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". The rest
of us have work to do.

Steve
