Laserjet 253 column environment below.
We have escape codes in some of our reports in order to squish 220
characters on 11"x17" paper on an HP293x or HP256x printer. Because the
printers will eventually go away and be replaced by lasers or such, I
was messing around with a some of 132 column environments provided by
third parties.
I came up with the following set of PCL codes that can be used as an
environment to print landscape at 253 columns:
esc&l1Oesc(8Uesc(s0p24.66h7.0v0s3b4102Tesc&a4Lesc&le60f8D
(Followed by two lines of 79 nulls each. I don't know
why that is but it was copied from another environment that
works.)
Note any instance of "esc" should be replaced by the escape character.
It uses the Letter Gothic scalable font (found on many HP lasers.) It
looks a lot like the Line Printer font (also found on many HP lasers.)
I kept it in a filename and referenced it as a "setup_file" in NPCONFIG
on a LDEV.
It also works as a NETOPT file in NetPrint/92 or Espul.
