The Gestetner will work because, like virtually all low-to-mid level laser
printers, it understands some version of PCL (HP basically sets the
standards, unlike with character impact printers). If you use its NIC to
interface with your network, you will want to use the "snmp_enabled=false"
directive in your npconfig.pub.sys definition for this printer.

Subject: [HP3000-L] Can HP 3000 print to non-HP Printers?

I am being told that the HP 3000 only can print to HP. We just put in a
Gestetner copier (networked), and the gestetner vendor is saying that
it will accept all languages. However our IT person is saying we can't
print from the 3000 to it.

This seems odd and I am inclined not to believe it. If we can print to
printers like HP laserjets why can't we print to other printers that
use similar technologies and interfaces??

Can someone let me know if this is true or even point me at where to
find the answer.

Thanks
N. Yodpunya
