What follows is a preliminary announcement and call for submissions
for the HPIUG conference in Stuttgart in June this year. I apologise
for the length of the posting but we felt that this would be of
interest to many users.
Feel free to cross post to any list or group you feel relevant.
I am posting this on behalf of Tim Cullis (Compuserve address below)
and the organiser, Dieter Gray, but you may also email responses to
me at [log in to unmask] if you prefer.

INTERNATIONAL HP USERS CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION

                            IUG 95
        18-22 JUNE 1995 STUTTGART, GERMANY

P R E L I M I N A R Y A N N O U N C E M E N T
------------------------------------------------

Stuttgart is the capital of Baden-Wurtenberg and is known all over the
world as the European headquarters of Daimler-Benz, Porsche, Kodak,
Bosch and many other chemical, electrical and engineering companies.

At the heart of Germany s Silicon Valley , Stuttgart is next-door to
Hewlett-Packard s European marketing centre at Boblingen, and at the
centre of the largest European concentration of HP computer sites.

Stuttgart is also a fun town. Swabian Gemutlichkeit--broadly
translated as cosiness --is a way of life that s just as much part
of Stuttgart as the old wine taverns, jazz cellars, bistros and local
breweries found all over town. Summer in Stuttgart has a
Mediterranean feel.

Stuttgart has many other faces--culture, style, recreation, and
shopping. The squares, parks and gardens, the Mercedes-Benz and
Porsche museums, and the Konigstrasse shopping area are all within
walking distance of the conference centre.

We chose Stuttgart for both its location and the facilities. Located
in southwest Germany, it is within easy reach of Austria, Switzerland,
Italy, eastern France and, of course, major Germany towns. There are
excellent autobahn links with space for 1,100 cars at the conference
centre. And Stuttgart International Airport has flights to all major
European cities with an easy 20-minute link to the centre of Stuttgart.

The state-of-the-art conference centre is linked to the Maritim
conference headquarters hotel and has ample facilities for session
streams addressing all HP computer ranges--HP 9000 servers and
workstations, HP 3000 and HP 1000 systems, PC LANs and X-terminals.
We are planning a great conference and I look forward to greeting you
in Stuttgart.

Hans-Dieter Grey
Conference Manager

IUG 95 is hosted by a cooperation of the German, Austrian and Swiss

BUILDING COMPETENCE IN A CHALLENGING WORLD...
------------------------------------------------

Fast changing needs driven by increasingly competitive markets are
forcing the pace for IT professionals. Consequently, building
competence in new and key technologies is a major focus for the
IUG 95 conference, through papers, tutorials, forum sessions and
strategic presentations. New this year are the twin MPE and HP-UX
Competence Centres, a Technical Workstation Laboratory, and optional
Pre-Conference Workshops.

MPE/iX and HP-UX Competence Centres: Located in the exhibition area,
the twin MPE/iX and HP-UX Competence Centres will provide concise
technical presentations and hands-on experience with new technology.
The Competence Centres will run continuously while the exhibition is
open, and sessions will be repeated, providing delegates with at least
three opportunities to learn about each new technology.

Workstation Technical Laboratory: For experienced workstation users,
the Technical Lab is an opportunity to see the latest workstations,
servers and X-stations together with networking, collaborative
computing, graphics, etc., as well as discuss ideas with engineers.
For commercial users the Technical Lab will help you understand where
workstations can integrate into current computing environments and how
they can help protect investment in both equipment and personnel.

------------------------------------------------
PARALLEL EVENTS TO THE IUG'95 CONFERENCE
------------------------------------------------

MANUFACTURING USERS CONFERENCE: In parallel with IUG 95,
Hewlett-Packard is sponsoring a special conference for users of
manufacturing applications. This conference will provide an
additional day of session topics dedicated to their needs, plus a
special conference track that will run throughout the IUG event.
Attendees of this event will be able to attend other IUG 95
sessions, competence centre presentations and take advantage of
the exhibition.

UNIX TRAINING: IUG is committed to providing intermediate and
advanced-level UNIX training. Additional educational seminars
dealing with advanced implementation of HP-UX systems may be
organised according to demand.

INTERCAD: Also running parallel to the first two days of IUG 95
is the InterCAD conference for users of HP s Mechanical Engineering
products.

PROSPECT EVENT: Hewlett-Packard will also sponsor the ability for
prospective customers to attend the full IUG 95 event. Those
considering implementing HP hardware and software solutions can learn
first-hand how the international community of Hewlett-Packard users
now represents one of the fastest-growing installed bases in the
world. Expanding the audience this way provides conference presenters
and exhibiting vendors access to the added perspective of other
computer users.
