Thanks for the response.  The thing that leaves me puzzled is that:

   I have return receipt requested turned on in my [current] mail
   thingy (Windows Messaging) and it works very well.  Each
   time I post to the 3000-l list I get a receipt.

   I receive receipts from Turnpike_Mail_Server even when I don't
   post to the list.  I am suspicious that I am receving receipts
   from Turnpike when I post to a list internal to Lockeed Martin
   in Denver.  Not enough evidence yet to confirm that but it's
   all I can think of, not being a network/e-mail kinda guy.  BTW
   the mailer I use to communicate with Denver is not the same
   as this one.  Pretty nuts. Go figure.

   Anyhow Raven performs exactly as expected, Kirk...beats me.
    It's definately a Jeff thing.  In the interim it is not real problem
    to me.....I just use the left mouse button on the big X and it goes
    away.  I'm just curious as to what's happening.
