How many Volume sets do you have. A single database is contained in a
single group which lives in a single volume Set. Remember that only
modifications get written to the DB by XM and someone is modifying the
same DB more now than before. I have a program XMTIME which dumps the XM
timing information on each volume set which might give you some insight
about which volume set is being hit the worse. Often the programs which
are most impacted by a checkpoint are the programs that are accessing
the same data base. If the checkpoints are spread out enough( it
depends) you can lower the priority of the checkpoint process and
sometime make things better...If you only have one volume set its harder
to determine what's going on. If the checkpoints are frequent but
short(less than 10 seconds) then the checkpoints are usually on the
system volume set and could be driven by directory activity or increased
number of logons/logoffs. Of course if you have many volumes sets you
can watch which volumes are being written to when XM is active and
isolate the activity somewhat. You should also install the latest MM
patches if you are on 6.5 or greater...You say this is really causing a
problem but you didn't elaborate, what kind of problem???
