Chuck,

When we did a Disaster Recovery test (on Oct. 1st) via Sungard (plug), we had
the same issue.  So, we called each and every software vendor (before that date)
to ask that specific question (how does their software work, when restored at a
Disaster site?).  Some answers were:
1.  Yes, our software will go into trial period mode
2.  or, Our software will default to demo mode
3.  Still others said, call us and we will give you a temporary key, thus
turning their software into demo/trial mode

Also, the length of the demo/trial period differed alot.

We are currently looking at a contract with a recovery service company to
provide hardware and workspace in the event we lose it all ( no this is not
Y2K paranoia... just a general disaster recovery plan ).

They will provide a 3000 that matches our current configuration. But, when I
asked them about the HPSUSAN and HPCPUNAME on the new machine being matched
to our current system so our 3rd party software would continue to run, their
reponse was that most 3rd party software has a trial period built in that we
could use to run on their system.

This seems a bit iffy to me.

Have any of you dealt with this? If so, how?
