Sperry Univac.... that is a name from way back. I once worked on the 90/30
which ran on the OS/3 operating system and it was the competition to HP3000
at the time. This is about 17 years ago now. I remember that we wanted to
upgrade to the 1100 but the $$$$$ was big. Any of the sites that were Sperry
that I remember turned to IBM after the merger.

A similar sort of thing happened in Sperry Univac when VS/9 was competing
against OS/1100.

Fortunately, Sperry merged with Burroughs to make Unisys, which then began
the cycle all over again.

And who says a house divided against itself will fall?

Let's have those friendly in-house competitions where we mutually excel!

Could it be that HP is the HPe3000's worst competitor? Not IBM, not
Sun?

And when all this becomes a case study in marketing (How HP lost it's
'crown jewels') maybe they will quote your comments.

It would be real interesting to know what the internal political and
marketing wars that I assume are going on inside HP are all about.
