Ditto.  At my last job I had just gotten a new system with a DDS2
drive in it and was having a ton of trouble with a bunch of my tapes.
I thought I had a bunch of bad tapes but come to find out it did not
have the MRS (aka 4-bar) symbol on it.  Thank goodness my brilliant
HP CE saw what I was doing and let me know about the difference.
Some of the tapes I had were not even DDS tape they were DAT tapes.
Needless to say those went into the circular filing cabinet very
quickly.
