My shop has a few non HP3K's I'd like to toss :) Every night we send the
day's work from an HP to Sybase. And the DNS / web servers / NT thingies /
Novell stuff kinda clutters up the room too.

BTW - if I'm to replace that Sybase widget, I need Oracle or Sybase on the
3K. Current versions. I can't rewrite that C/S app in one pass - not
enough people power. Oracle is covered by our site license - but not on
the 3K. And if Oracle is being ignored on the 3K, how am I supposed to
talk to that big blue box at the head shed (the one with the Oracle
financial application)? Best I can come up with is tapes (shudder) or
encrypted FTP (shudder).

I (personally) would prefer all the eggs in one really good basket - an
HP3K. So let's do the tests and give the boss numbers to take to
management. Those guys are really smart - if we've got a "5" and it's
slow, and a "6" costs $xxxx, they can take it from there.

So do the numbers. Help us prove we're not crazy for sticking to a good
box. Make management prove the logic of moving the 3K'ers to an inferior
solution that costs more.

Then start building 3K's. I think you'll be needing them :)

And that's not to pick on Jon or the other fine folks at HP. The reason
some of us holler is that we care. Except for the Oracle part, HP World
was very positive for me this year - keep up the good work!
