<<Now, the bugaboo here is the 10Mb NI on the HP3000. Will the high
speed conversational throughput provided by the switch 2000 completely
overwhelm the HP3000's 10M NI?>>

Not sure what this means-any given segment is either 100 Mbps or 10 Mbps, and
all devices on the segment must run at the same speed. Various brands of
switches and (generally higher-end) repeaters provide speed-sensing ports and
multi-speed capability that support having devices of different speeds
connected to the box, but many only support having all connected devices run
at the same speed.

Fortunately, the HP AdvanceStack Switch 2000 is in the multi-speed-capable
group; you just put a 10BaseT Ethernet module in one of the slots and plug
the 10 Mbps devices in to those ports. The switch takes care of the buffering
required due to the speed difference.
