We don't use full Powerhouse, just QUIZ and PHD but we have had little
trouble with the products since we began beta testing 5.5 nearly 18 months
ago regardless of the patches that we have installed.

The problem you refer to manifests itself as an extra carriage return
being required to get the banner when you run QUIZ from a colon prompt.
Somehow, an FREAD to the PHRS file is redirected to $stdin and it takes
an extra CR to satisfy that read.

To solve this problem, make a file PHRS that contains the word EXIT and
store it along with your dictionary. When QUIZ is started it reads the
EXIT line from the PHRS file, not $stdin, and QUIZ pops right up.

I can only assume that this also happens in the other PH products.
