HUGE classpath variable that is essentially listing each and every .jar file
as a seperate component of the path [maybe this needs to be this way --
haven't done much java]; as you might imagine, building the command string
to do this results in a "input exceeds 1024 characters" error in pure
MPE/iX, so I'm having to do this "in the shell" -- what OTHER things do I
have to be on the lookout for when using "the shell" vs. MPE or MPEX?
--

I have version:

No Floating-Point coprocessor, disabling JIT

java version "JDK 1.2.2"

Classic VM (build A.22.02 built on 05/30/00 @ 14:12, green threads, HP)

I place jars I make in a separate place from those I pick up from say
sourceforge or places like that. Those I put in

/usr/local/java/latest/jre/lib/ext

My class path variable is then just set to where my own jars exist. Seems
the java compile will look automatically in the ext area. Makes the class
path much smaller when dealing with all those jars out there.

I quit doing my compiles on the HP and went to doing any java development on
PCs last April.
