Both acts are totally despicable, both acts should be (and are) loudly condemned by the international community. It certainly does not enhance the US prestige abroad to see US soldiers behave like the terrorists they are trying to uproot. The USA is supposed to be the biggest democracy in the world, and it is certainly not well served by such acts of sheer barbarity.

Stress, pressure and other reasons may be true. They certainly help understand what happened, and why. But they are certainly no excuse.
