Johan and Robert,

your problems sound exactly like the one fixed by the spooler
patch MPELX39, which you can get from the RC or from the ITRC.

The effect that is suddenly starts has to do with some other
spooling software turning on a feature called JOB-IDs which is
only available in more current LaserJets.

We have never found which other spooler or application (probably
not a e3000 one) triggers this, but it is nevertheless the problem
of our spooler that it tripped on it.

If you have any clues as to what this unknown trigger could be that
would possibly be helpful, esp. for getting it into our spooler
testing for future releases & patches.

Powercycling the printer sets it back to factory defaults, so the
JOB-ID reporting feature gets switched off, which temporarily solves
the issue.

HTH,

Goetz Neumann,
HP WTEC MPE/iX.

PS: the comment about having to make sure that the right cable is used
which allows PJL commands from the printer to flow back to the spooler
is also always a very good point to check out.

Do you use Musketeer ? If not see:
http://wtec.cup.hp.com/~mpeix/musketeer.htm for MPE and
