Here is the process:

QTP run creates QPCSVAM1 on HP3000

ASCII transfer of QPCSVAM1 via anonymous ftp to Linux Host

The record terminating nulls are present in the file on the Linux
host. The inference is that either QTP or the HP FTP client transfer
is generating the nulls. The nulls are present in the transferred file
whether ASCII or BINARY mode is used by ftp.
