I certainly can do this, but from experience on this list, we have
numerous contributors that will quote an original message in it's
entirety (annoying enough, especially when including sigs and so forth)
and adding the message "bottom banner" with the URL would only make
matters worse.  Of course, if you can all change you ways at once, it
might be worth a try :-)

The bottom line - it only adds to the noise level and archive size
unless we are diligent about editing replies to the list.
