Hi All,

I have a problem that I hope someone on the list can help with. DCE
stopped running when I installed 5.5 PP5 (I don't know if it was 5.5 or PP5
that caused the problem, since I did them both at the same time).
Unfortunately the only documentation I can find on DCE is the ones HP
originally shipped that are for OSF and not specifically for the HP3000. I
also checked the documentation CD, but didn't find anything there either.
I tried running RPCD.PUB.SYS with the following result:
(rpcd) Can't initialize ept database: (0x16c9a0d4) cannot update endpoint
database (dce / rpc) [16c9a0d4]

Since DCE was not on our SUBSYS tape, I phoned HP and was told it hadn't
changed so it wasn't included on the tape. They did send me a new DCE DAT
but without any instructions. A man dce gives: No manual entry for "dce".
Since we only have Software update support, I can't phone the Response
Center. I also tried the ESC, but couldn't find anything there either (my
password doesn't allow me to much of anything).

Any help on getting into DCE, configuring it, starting it, etc. would be
much appreciated. I am heading to a client site in a few minutes, but will
be working on DCE this evening (I need to get it up and running for
tomorrow if at all possible).

TIA

Judy
