After 136$ for XP pro. and 200$ for new hardware to work with XP. My AMD700 (hackers chip) is running XP(at the house). Everything is working.
I now want to add(dual boot) several flavors of LINUX. I think I need to do the following in the following order.
1. Clear the NTFS formatted one disk drive on the machine(30 gig). To cheap to buy partition magic.
2. Create a FAT32 partition for the LINUX, may be 6 gig.
3. Create another FAT32 partition for the XP, maybe 8 gig, leave the rest unpartitioned for future use.
4. Add the LINUX to the 1st FAT32 partition
5. Add the XP to the 2nd partition.
Anyone have suggestions, before I hose this machine again. How do I get LINUX drivers for my hardware. VIDEO card, Mouse and NIC card?
Or am I at the hardware vendors mercy?
Thanks
