We had some very serious issues with telnet, untill about 3 months ago.
We were running out of outbound buffer pool numbers (2048) and no more
telnet sessions could get on. Unless someone logged off. The buffers were
not being released, causing a 'leak'!!. Our original solution was to
reboot. HOWEVER, HP did a lot of extensive work on the problem and came
up with a couple of patches that solved the problem. We haven't had
any 'leaks' since June.
