oh...we've got a live one! :-) just kidding....

lesson #1 -- mpe systems are not 'mainframes'

> It all seems ass backwards.

it only seems that way...it will pass....and you'll also discover you've
been living in the matrix (almost joking...:-)

in unix-land, you view file structures as a tree... /dir/subdir/.../file

you can do the same thing with mpe (if you want to):

:listfile ci.pub.sys,6
CI.PUB.SYS
:listfile /SYS/PUB/CI,6
 /SYS/PUB/CI

same file...just viewed differently. in traditional mpe (and that's
probably the bulk of where you'll be doing your work), files are viewed
from the file's perspective. hence the file.group.account notation. it's
all the same....just viewed differently.

practice saying 'poe-tay-toe' and 'poh-tah-toe'....

ah ah ah -- what do we call it? :-)

and a refreshing one if you ask me :-)

we're all here...waiting to help you out....really! you've literally
tapped into thousands of collective years of experience. we're nice
folk....really :-) - d

Come, my friends, 'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are.
