Hi All:

Over the last few days I have spoken with several of you about my impressions
about the HP 3000. Here are a few of them:

Sales were up last year, therefore a startled HP top management has started
 to notice the product again.
CSY (the HP 3000 division) won the HP President's award last year.
HP has started to hire a lot of new employees to work on MPE in the labs.
HP is starting to advertise the HP 3000 again.
I know that there are plans for new HP 3000 models at least for the next
5 years.
HP has announced support for faster and higher capacity peripherals.
HP is working on increasing the capacity of the computer in general
(i.e. file sizes, number of files per spindle, maximum memory).
We now have JAVA
We will soon have the Netscape Server with CORBA.
We have 32bit ODBC included in the FOS
We will soon have HP supported SAMBA.
We have ORACLE on the HP 3000
I have noticed increased enthusiasm about the product within the last year.
CSY will be spending a lot of money for promotion of the HP 3000.
etc.

CSY's current behavior should be encouraged.

Some of us, Alfredo Rego, Steve Cooper, Gavin Scott, Rene Woc included
believe that we should do something to show support for the HP 3000 at
HP World in San Diego. Does anyone have any great ideas?

I have spoken with Vance McCarthy at HP World magazine and he said that
he would consider devoting a "significant" portion of the August issue to feature
the HP 3000 especially if the users come up with something interesting that creates
excitement at the conference.

Here's our chance to put up or shut up folks
