hp e3000 eAdvisor - May 2002 Edition
=====================================

Here's breaking news about HP's e3000 transition
programs. Since most MPE customers are indicating that they
plan to migrate, HP's efforts are focused on helping
businesses to evaluate and move forward to new HP
platforms. Many larger shops are telling us they are
heading towards HP-UX with either Oracle or HP Eloquence
databases. Many others, especially those with small to
mid-sized apps, are looking at HP Linux or Windows NT --
now a better choice than ever, on the strong new
HP Proliant platform.

New Initiatives And Announcements
==========================
In April, HP made a number of announcements that will
ease the migration path from the hp e3000 to other
HP server platforms. These include:

·NEW! A/N class conversion kit availability has been
 extended for 3 years, through the end of 2006!

·NEW! CPU license for enterprise or mission critical
 HP-UX operating environments, have been discounted
 by 50%!

·NEW! HP is giving away 3 months of support to qualified
 customers who buy HP-UX or MPE/iX systems to be
 used in transition projects!

·NEW! New financing options for hp e3000 customers make
 transitions more cost effective!

·NEW! Invent9k is a publicly available HP-UX server for
 migrating software from MPE to HP-UX!

·NEW! Loaner program makes HP-UX servers available for
 up to 6 months at no charge!

Database News
=============
HP Eloquence is a relational database which features
TurboIMAGE compatibility extensions, making it an invaluable
tool for HP e3000 transition projects for small to mid-range
customers. HP Eloquence has been evaluated by HP and its
SIGSoftvend partners, and technically endorsed by SigIMAGE's
Image/SQL Advisory Committee (ISAC). It is supported on HP-UX,
Windows/NT and Linux.

More information is available at <http://www.hp-eloquence.com/>.

Platinum Partner Program
========================
HP announced a new Platinum Partners Program for North America
and a corresponding Preferred Partners Program for Europe.
These programs will certify HP partners who can provide
"bumper-to-bumper" transition services. Today's Platinum
Partners include M. B. Foster, Lund Performance Solutions,
and Speedware.

Free Technical Training via Webcasts
=====================================
HP is rolling out a series of six webcasts that discuss the technical
details of migrating applications off of the HP e3000. These programs
are available to all HP e3000 customers at no charge. Each one
focuses on a different aspect of the transition process. The next
webcast is scheduled to take place on May 21st (Tuesday) beginning
at 8:30 am Pacific Time.
