Fellow 3000 users,

I have a job that allows a user to enter in a screen name and will report
activity on that screen. Before batching the job, pre-process MPEX code is used
to validate the screen name. Since the possible valid screen names are in an
image data set, I would simply to a VEDBGETV and be done. The kicker is that
screen name is PART of the data item in the database, characters 3-18 to be
precise.

Does anyone know a way that I can look up a PART of a data item and validate an
entry, using MPEX? Please send all responses directly to me since I only
receive the daily digest version of the list. Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Jeff Keepers
