Depending on what you mean by "session", "inactive", and "logging off", there
may already be the capability. From the Windows/2000 command line, you can
type "NET CONFIG SERVER /AUTODISCONNECT:10" to set a 10 minute time-out on
network sessions (the default is 15 minutes).
That's just a server-side close.
The screen-saver settings on Windows/2000 or Windows/XP can be used
client-side to require a password, but it doesn't disconnect the client from
the server or close any programs.
