<<Guys like John Bonham, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and so on
were
three individuals who got very lucky indeed.>>
Oops, no one noticed the boo boo -- that should have been FOUR individuals,
not three.......
Yes, I've always been confused as to the priority of importance of all these
pc type programming technologies. Just what is the standard business
programming language on a pc? -- VB? Java? C++ ?? or even a mini-Cobol ? How about
the standard OS on a pc? -- Windows?? Linux? Unix?
Way back when in the "good" old days of the 50's and 60's Cobol was the
standard for business apps, Fortran was pretty much the standard for Math/Science
apps, and others
whose names totally escape me now.....
There just seems to be so many and almost impossible to tell which ones are
worth pursuing
and which ones are not.
As Glenn Mitchell pointed out unless you have the years of experience on a
given subject, such as C++, you ain't getting the job anyway! Regardless of
your years of experience in the programming arena unless you have 5 years plus
of experience on "Brand X" you ain't getting that job. Pathetic! Lame brains.
Actually, on my trusty little 917LX I have both Pascal and "C" compilers on
it. When I had
been developing some apps using the AIF intrinsics I opted for Pascal
because I found it
easier to write than "C"...
Thanks to all who responded......
