One way to give new life to MPE would be to port it's competitive
subsystems to Linux, and provide emulation for the rest. Maybe even on
top of HP's secure Linux. If MPE were to be reborn as a "high
performance transaction business engine" add on to Linux, with a
set of applications already available and a community pushing it, it
might gain some popularity.
