Well, I guess, I should learn to use comments in my next example ;-)

One note to Peter... You will notice that the COBOL example on the above
web site uses NetIPC intrinsics instead of Berkeley Sockets. The former
API is less C centric and thus typically more COBOL friendly in regards
to parameter passing and the like.

Oh, and regarding a couple of "why" tips... I found the manual that
comes with the QSDK trial version (see www.qss.com) quite useful. It
has a section or appendix with several good tips and background info,
even if you do not use the QSDK library for socket programming.
