We only have a couple of A500-200 systems. So far we have had no problems
with the power switches. As far as I know, there is only one power switch
on the back lower left of the system. We seldom use it.

As for a solution, I suggest you keep the systems under HP hardware contract
and have them all replaced within the next week. <joke>

Subject: [HP3000-L] Faulty power switches on HP-3000 boxes

Greetings,

We operate a network of 30+ HP-3000 A500 boxes. It seems that one of the
most common hardware problems is a power switch that decides not to stay in
the "ON" position. The switch, being soldered to the board, is not easy to
replace, so the common solution is to use tape to keep it turned on.

Is this a common problem with the A series machines? Does anybody have a
better solution?
