This happened here. There was a technical school south of us (Stark
Tech) that used the HP3000 to teach programming and such. I used to
call their placement office whenever I was looking for programmers.
About 5 years ago, they switched to Wintel machines and PC compilers.
I was not happy when the placement office told me that, and told them
they had just lost their uniqueness, and I wouldn't be bothering them
anymore.
