Hi everyone,
We're an HP3000 shop with a tty type application (non Vplus
application). We currently have the opportunity to have our
application become a menu option on an IBM CICS host application. All
IBM users access the IBM host via a 3270 terminal or 3270 terminal
emulator.
Our current option under consideration is to use HP's SNA distributed
host command facility/iX to connect to the IBM 3090 host. The HP
networking communications specifications guide states that the Host
Command Facility, Version 2 software must be installed on the IBM host
(P/N 5668-985).
We would greatly appreciate any information on the following issues:
1. Is connecting to the IBM host via the ADVANTIS network
preferable to purchasing a dedicated leased line? Or is there
another alternative?
2. Does anyone know how much the IBM Host Command software costs?
3. Does anyone know of any other IBM requirements needed to make
this connection happen? Hardware? Software?.
4. How to transfer a file to the IBM CICS temporary storage queue?
5. Being a tty application, our displays don't alway fit on 24
line boundaries. Does anyone have any input on how to handle
the following?
Screen 1 has 5 lines to display and screen 2 has 24 lines to
display. What we would like to happen is to display screen 1
on its own page then display screen 2 in its entirety on the
second page. What's happening is screen 1 displays on the
first page then screen 2 appends 19 lines to the first page
then displays the remaining 5 lines on the second page.
Thanks in advance for your time and help. My e-mail address is
