I tried to use the UNPACKP for patches on MPE/ix 5.5 and had to ftp to the
HP using the HP to initiate the connection. When I did it the other way
around, I got similar errors that you did.

Another note: I was feeling pretty confident in the way HP setup things for
downloading new patches and UNPACKP'ing them, until I got to one of the
patches. The UNPACKP just hung, no disc I/O, just all the CPU it could get.
I did a control-break and got the colon prompt, then I typed ABORT. Again,
it froze up, using no disc I/O, but eating up all of the free CPU in the CQ.
I tried everything from aborting the session to disconnecting the session to
altering the priority, etc. I eventually had to call the HPRC since it was
getting in the way of my jobs. We had problems trying to get to it from
posix as well. Several things that HP suggested were tried and failed.
Eventually, it went away by its-self, but I just wanted to warn people to
work with it on your TEST box first. Since we don't have a test box, and
since I didn't hear anything about people having problems, I decided to try
using it. For those of you out there without test boxes....this is your
warning!!! I will be ordering overnight tapes from now on!

Kevin

ps. For some people, it seems to work just fine. The HPRC guy told me that
most of the problems with patches that they get called for are with this new
process.
