Do any of you guys have good strategies/programs for keeping various data
dictionaries in synch? We are using Protos and Powerhouse and I'd like to
reduce the redundant effort involved.

I'm told that some versions of Powerhouse could run using DICT/3000 as a
dictionary instead of a QSCHEMA, but I don't see any mention of this in the
documentation. Is this still an option? Does it work with System
Dictionary/XL?

I don't suppose anybody has written any tools to incrementally update a
Protos dictionary. I do notice that Protos allows you to add new items
incrementally, though you can't change old items. Still, it shouldn't be
that much work to retract the old definitions of just the items that have
changed. Just a Small Matter of Programming.

One thought I had about all the Enchilada proposals is that they only deal
with one database at a time. Most of our programs use more than one
database and so need to have a combined data dictionary. Some of the
functionality desired from the Enchilada proposals could be achieved with
System Dictionary if the tools (Adager, DBGeneral, DBUTIL, Image/SQL,
Suprtool, etc.) used it. Again, the trick is keeping the dictionary
correctly synchronized.
