I would be very much surprised if Tino (From: Tino <[log in to unmask]>)
is bothering to monitor this thread. But for the benefit of the rest of us
who may not know this, there is another "two system" solution, which works
better than well.

Instead of buying a hub, if you know that you only care about connecting two
systems (or are willing to bet that way for now), you can either make or buy
a "crossover cable", sometimes called a "null Ethernet" cable, which allow
the two systems to be connected directly, without the benefit of or need for
a hub. Since there is no routing and no collisions, speed is as fast as it
gets. This is also a pretty useful technique for moving files between an old
system and a new one. Instruction on making a crossover cable can be found
pretty quickly on a web search.
