Indulge me a moment:

Guenter Kuhn started with:
>
> Does anybody know, if there is a callable (supported or unsupported)
> MPE routine which does the standard REDO ?

And Jeff Vance replied:
>
> The CI supports the [actual editing] with the EDIT() function.
> This function accepts the same edits as the REDO command does.

To which Chris Bartram added:
>
> With the edit() routine [Jeff] suggests, it should be a piece-o-
> cake to whip up a little routine that allow then to do just that!

And Guenter wrapped it up with:
>
> The best solution I found was wrapping the CI edit function in a
> small commandfile. The program which needs the redo facility sets
> a ci variable with the starting value, execute the commandfile and
> retrieves the variable after the commandfile is finished.

What's this all lead up to?

(why else would I go on like this? :-)

Guenter's 'small file' is now available on the Command Files page,
along with a COBOL stub routine that calls it! (link below)

Again we have a *fantastic* routine developed with the help of the
members on this list.

Thanks, everyone.
