Thanks for all the replies. I combined and used the methods Carl McNamee &
Mark Bixby offered.
Carl
>cp logfile logfile.save
>echo > logfile
Mark
>mv logfile logfile.old (rename the active logfile)
>kill -HUP nnn (send the HUP signal to pid nnn to cause a server restart)
I shutdown the listeners (Apache, JINETD(Samba), Jserv
Then I used the mv to move/rename to another file name logfile.old
I then used the echo > logfile to reinitialize the log files.
I also had to chmod the new files to have the same security access as the
old ones.
Brought all the servers backup. No problem so far.
The log files I could find were for Apache & Jserv. Samba doesn't seem to
have log files. I presume the $STDLIST of the job JINETD would act as a
logging area.
All my log files (4) were in /usr/local/apache/logs
Thanks everyone.
