Of course the page also lists no less than six workarounds to the problem,
the simplest looking one being to turn off the "Allow Background Saves"
option in Word 97.
Say what you will about Microsoft, but they have one hell of a lot of
information about their products online, such as a few million pages of
developer documentation, support knowledge databases for all the products,
monitored newsgroups, etc.
Microsoft may be an "evil empire" when compared to the goodness and light
that is Linux and Free Software(tm), but if, instead, you think of them as a
possible replacement "proprietary software company" for the one you've been
using for the last 20-30 years, then they start to look really quite good in
comparison :-)
