hi!

ok....so i'm updating my development system to 6.5pp3
today.... round one seems to have gone well. the network
came up and all the background jobs are running. however,
apache and samba are 'technically' broken. if i connect to
this machine's web server, i get the default apache page
that comes with the install. if i try to connect via a
samba share, it just keeps asking me over and over for my
password.

i'm reasonably sure that all i need to do is restore the
correct files (like index.html and so forth) but -- what
should have i done *prior* to the update to keep from having
to do this?

for example, since hp 'owns' /etc/profile all my
customizations are in /etc/profile.local. is there an
equivilent for apache and samba? or is it best to keep your
own copies (and remember to update them <sigh>)
or....? - d
