I would check the Maxtor web site for this type of information, Maxtor
merged with the Quantum hard drive division.  Good luck.

Hello all,

Is it possible to change the firmware on a Quantum SCSI hard drive so it
comes
up as GENERIC instead of the OEM name e.g. change a IBM SCSI hard
drive to a Generic HD.  I just wondered if it was possible.  Many
