The power supply on the Series 30, along with the 39/40/42/44/48 has a
battery pack (31000-60001) listed in the CE Handbook as 14V, 5AH for memory
backup. If the battery voltage drops below 12.5 volts, the memory supply
voltages are cut off.
I don't have access to the Series 30 at the moment. Does anyone know what
kind of battery is in the pack? Lead-acid? The Series 37 uses a pack made up
of 3 Hawker-Cyclon 2V, 2.5AH D-size lead-acid cells. Maybe the 31000-60001
pack is made up of individual cells?
I see that Cyclon has a 2V, 5AH battery (0800-0004): 7 of these would give
us the 14V needed.
Is there a way to bypass the memory supply shutdown on these systems?
I'll be working on the Series 30 again in 2 weeks. I'd like to get a jump
on the battery issue before then. Last time I worked on it, all the voltages
looked good, except for the memory supplies. I suspect a dead battery.
