By my count (and I'm sure it's not completely accurate, but I believe it's
well over 95% accurate) since the beginning of the month there have been
383 posts marked with the proper "OT:" tag in the subject and 100 off-topic
posts either unmarked or improperly (e.g., "[OT]" or "OT" without the
following colon or otherwise mislabeled). I suppose I should be 79.3%
grateful for the 383 properly labeled messages. But I'm tired of manually
filtering the other 100 out of my mailbox.

How about this constructive suggestion instead, if feasible: Can Jeff Kell
make the subject tags mandatory and have messages that don't have them
bounce (perhaps with an explanation and list of allowed tags)? This way
those people who can't or won't figure out how to properly label their
messages will at least have a chance to follow the guidelines instead of
wandering along obliviously littering hundreds of people's email.

It's broke. Somebody please fix it.
