Earlier today, I wrote about a gotcha with finfo's "byte file size" parm.
I was referring to item# 49. Now I see there are *two* instances of this
mnemonic on my 5.5 system:
28 BYTE FILE SIZE Integer Total number of bytes
BYTEFILESIZE allowed in file
49 BYTE FILE SIZE Integer Current file size
BYTEFILESIZE (in bytes)
While I (strongly!) prefer using a mnemonic, I'd rather use one that's
not ambiguous. Does anyone know what these should be?
(Searching the archives, I see that I wrote about the above on
April 30, 1999. I confirmed at that time that the above mnemonic
applies to item# 49, but I never heard what the mnemonic should be
for item# 28.)
Yes, I even wasted my time on the abomination called "dynaweb."
If you have to use this -- and I hope you don't -- just remember
that "the tiny blue triangle is your friend," while the big underlined
link beside it is likely useless. Eventually, I found that the error
still exists in the 6.0 documentation.
