We want to be able to run a job that executes a COBOL program that will=20
"sleep" either for a specified amout of time [eg wake up every hour and see=
=20
if there's work] or until an "event" [triggered by a different process on=20
either the same or a different machine, using NetIPC, SVID IPC, etc. --=20
*not* message files]. We would also use an "event" to stop the process.
Can a program that is IPC enabled "sleep", or will sleeping disable the cal=
l=20
socket?
If the program can "sleep", can a different process wake it , or will it=20
automatically wake when a remote process attempts to contact the call=20
socket?
Is there a better way to do this?
TIA,
Carl Hughes
