The LineJet line of printers are no longer sold by HP and they have a EOL attached to them now. The older the printer, the higher the support costs. We had the same experience with them, but we have been hard pressed to find a 3rd party vendor in our area with which we've been satisfied with references. Even though HP subcontracts out printer repair now, we cannot approach those companies for support.

We have contracts with HP for next day onsite support for several LP 500 =
line printers. The cost for the contracts that are expiring at the end =
of this month is $37/month or $444/year. HP is quoting us a cost of =
$70/month ($840/year) to renew these contracts, and they have no =
explanation for the big jump in price. Has anyone else experienced a =
sharp jump in printer support charges from HP?
