In our case here, in Cape Breton, the "Do you want fries with that?" is
being replaced with "With our new low interest MasterCard" as we are seeing
a lot of call centers. We have had 5 new ones in the last 2 years, Stream,
EDS, Ron Webber, Spiegel, ICS. A friend of my son's was going to start
working for EDS for a summer job, they had the phone support contract for HP
PC's. But last week he was told HP switched it's PC support to India and he
was not getting hired. In our case the call centers have created about 2000
jobs, which have replaced the loss of about 3000 well paying jobs in coal
mining and steel production.
