Greg,

  The current version of Samba does handle cross subnet browsing
very well (as you've found out).  A couple things you could try
though would be:

1.  Enable (it is by default anyway) WINS support on Samba/iX.
2.  Setup (if not already) a WINS server (NT probably) on the
    same subnet as your PC's.  This would be the browse master
    for that workgroup.
3.  In your smb.conf file for Samba/iX, add a 'remote announce ='
    parameter where you use the IP address of the remote browse
    master in the other subnet.

 That should basically tell nmbd on your 3000 to announce its
presence to the remote browse master in your PC's subnet.  That
way the PC's in that subnet will then "see" the Samba/iX server
in their 'Network Neighborhood' display.
