Good. So far, the Interex web site's articles on "this issue" focus
exclusively on:

* Gartner Bids a 'Happy Goodbye' to HP 3000 Line

* Interex to Support Members During HP e3000 Transition

* New e3000 Migration Tools
   Reference materials covering full range of migration options.

* HP e3000 Solutions Symposium
   Newly created program to feature Migration Track.

All of this "goodbye" and "migration" material is wonderful, of course,
but I fail to see the relevance of "whatever future is created for MPE".

Denys' clever use of the passive voice ("is created for MPE") does
not quite address WHO (if anybody) is going to ACTIVELY create the
future of MPE. I assume that the forthcoming announcements on Interex's
web site -- "trust me on this (next week or week after)" -- will
address the concerns of those so-far-ignored hp3000 customers who would
prefer not to downgrade to what they consider inferior platforms.

I look forward to Denys's one-sentence (or at most two-sentence)
answer on "this issue" (without a detailed history of the hardware
involved in the manufacture of PCs :-)

Really? I have been a loyal member of Interex since 1978, when it
was called the "International HP3000 Users Group". A couple of minor
-- understandable -- problems when they "migrated" their computerized
membership system to a "better" platform affected Interex's institutional
memory and I was assigned (notice my explicit use of the passive voice,
to avoid assigning blame or responsibility) a new membership number
and a new membership starting date.

Anyhow, Interex is an "old" institution from the 1970s. "Yes" or "no"?

To be consistent with "this issue", I should "migrate" to some kind of
newer "International HP3000 Users Group" :-)

Or do I detect some kind of a double standard here? I love standards.
