<After Allan after Scott>
     <Start of Plug..>
        REX/3000 is alive and well here at Data Research Associates...It has
been maintained and enhanced over the last six years here in Monterey,
Calif. I am a little at a loss to understand the phrase "always found that
you had to go into the created code to modify it to do what you wanted". I
don't know what situation(s) Allan is referring to, but REX today is a very
powerfull high level language that produces object code as a result of
compilation. REX is a procedure oriented language similar to PASCAL, and we
refer to it here as "Pascal without the tears". The following quote appears
in the REX manual.

             "REX is a complete business programming language for the
HPe3000 family of computers and is well suited for everything from an
occasional database fix-up to complete applications systems development".

        Many of our sites use REX for report generation, but it is capable
of much more.
