Mike Hornsby suggested I look at Lars Appel's "wget" port ( at
http://www.editcorp.com/Personal/Lars_Appel/wget/ ). Downloaded and
installed is, and it works perfectly:

/SYS/NOTPUB/RESULT"""

The RESULT file has:

Downloaded: 16,701 bytes in 2 files

I'll cobble together a qedit script to massage this into a workable list of
failed URLs.

I also downloaded and installed Mark Bixby's PERL (Thanks Mark! :-), but
being a perl newbie still need to figure it out ....
