Can you describe what you're seeing?  Does the sending program block
unexpectedly while sending, or is it that you're calling recv() asking
for 5500 bytes but you're only being given 1500?  If the latter then
this is just how TCP works because it has no concept of a "message size"
and you'll receive data in whatever sized chunks it feels like based on
the phase of the moon.
